All Clad Slow Cooker – Why You Can’t Go Wrong With This Slow Cooker
I recently bought the All Clad Slow Cooker and the tale is no different from my previous Rival Smart Pot. Frankly speaking the All Clad did not meet my expectations and I had pinned lot of hopes on it. Still at the end of the day it is better than the Smart Pot and f or that reason I
have not returned it. Most disgusting thing is that the All Clad and some of the other slow cookers are manufactured half way in between the regular cookers and genuine slow pot.
Any one who goes for a slow cooker will expect the cooking to be down slowly at a controlled pace and strangely All Clad rushes through the process and decreases the time. Usually the thought behind using slow cooker is to cook at a prolonged time so that the spices and juices are fully blended to cook a delectable meal. But this slow cooker speeds up things at an alarming rate without giving ample time for the spices and salt to sink into the meat
The largest drawback of the All Clad Slow Cooker is that it comes with a really different temperature setting and this is quite confusing. For instance when the slow cooker is tuned to low it should have been something around 185 degrees and high refers to 195 to 200 degrees and this is what I expected from the All Clad. Oddly, with All Clad, 200 is low and 240 is high. This is ridiculous and I even got this confirmed with the customer care. This is not mentioned anywhere in the d description and if only I had any clue about this, I would not have bought this slow cooker.
Ultimately this boils down to screw up with the preparation time and desired texture. The simple recipes that generally takes nothing less than 6 to 8 hours, is done in just 4 to 4-1/2 hours and the stuff that take 9 hours is reduced to 6. This is in contradiction to the basic working principle of the slow cooker. For me being a housewife it is not a huge problem, because I can have any eye on the food intermittently to see the cooking stage. But the same thing is impossible with the working women who leave the All Clad at home because by the time they get back home, food would have been burnt or scorched. Moreover the minimum setting is 4 hours.
Despite the quick heating, the slow cooker need not be supervised constantly and occasional stirring will do. Stainless steel construction makes it sturdy and the heat is conducted uniformly. As the handles are also made of stainless steel, they get heated up excessively and this should be lifted using a mitt.The black ceramic bowl with 6-1/2 quart capacity is spacious to accommodate for a family. Be careful not o drop the ceramic as it is heavy. The All Clad Slow Cooker (all) can be set at three different settings and the digital show shows the reading clearly.
