Incorrect item sent
Rating:1 out of 5 stars
I returned this item because I had ordered an OVAL Crockpot and they sent a round in substitution – that is not what I wanted. I did not take it out of the box because it is not what I wanted – therefore I can not rate the item.
Cooks hot – will boil on LOW setting
Rating:3 out of 5 stars
Works well enough, but have to watch it until you’re familiar with how it is going to cook. The lid rests on the crock, but does not seat as well as my Mom’s 30 year ancient pot. Also, the pot will boil on the Low heat setting. I tried a recipe that called for overnight on the Low setting, and it came out a gummy burnt mess. I will not be able to use this pot the way my mom used hers – I don’t trust it not to burn if I am not home to watch it. What is not evident from the picture is that the crock itself angles in toward the bottom, rather than having straight sides. Maybe that is part of the issue?
As far as delivery goes, the pot arrived in excellent condition within the expected delivery time. No complaints about that.
fantastic slow cooker
Rating:4 out of 5 stars
I like this slow cooker. The size is just right for two or three people and it is simple to use. About the only thing I wish it had was a keep warm setting. Others made comments about the lid leaking but my personal experience with that is just don’t fill it to the rim because any pan will leak around the lid if you do something like that. We cooked beans the day after I got it and they were perfect.
Lid is Not Manufactured Properly
Rating:2 out of 5 stars
Didn’t even plug the unit in. The lid is obviously not machined properly — it’s not wide enough — resulting in a gap which will allow heat and steam to escape. I suspect this lid is used on several different models and “pretty much” fits them all.
(The stoneware has four small grooves cut into its lip, which are designed to let out excessive steam. If the lid were about 1/4 inch wider, it would cover the pot nicely with the four small holes available for steam release.)
The lid also seems a bit light in weight and doesn’t sit perfectly flat on the lip of the pot. I can readily know other reviewers’ complaints about overflow and splatter. Sorry, I’m not willing to take a chance on this and will be returning it.
Excellent value for the price

I ordered this for my son and it worked just fine. Excellent size, not too huge and not too small, he can make soup or spaghetti sauce and have some left over to freeze for another meal.
Perfect Size
Rating:5 out of 5 stars
After many years of using extra large crockpots and slow cookers, I find this crock pot size to be perfect for our downsized family. Has a crisp clean appearance and holds right to the quality that Rival has brought to us throughout the years.
Satisfactory for price, but could be better…
Rating:3 out of 5 stars
My crazy life caused me to turn to the convenience of a crockpot. Indeed, there’s nothing better than coming home from a nutty, busy day to find dinner (which you threw together while you were making lunches at the beginning of the day) hot and bubbling, waiting for you to dish up and delight in.
That said, when I needed to replace my ancient crock pot, I picked this one up at my local Target. I like the oval design; it fits better in my cabinet than my round one did. The price is fantastic. But, I have to agree with several of the reviewers who feel the lid doesn’t give a tight seal. Nearly every time I use it, I come home to the lid banging and bumping open as the meal is simmering, and juices/sauce spattered all over the counter and backsplash.
Oh, and one other thing would really make this a much better crockpot. An indicator light, for those of us who sometimes forget to plug the thing in. I did this once, after filling the pot, turning it to low, and leaving for the day without first plugging it in. I came home to cold raw meat and veggies (which of course I had to dump), and the pizza delivery boy.
Fantastic Small Crock Pot!
Rating:4 out of 5 stars
I bought this for myself. I live alone and am a busy professional man with no cooking skills. This slow cooker is perfect for coming home to a well balanced, cooked meal with very small effort. My only complaint is that the outside gets extremely hot to the touch and I have to be careful where I place it in my smallish apartment.
Slow cooking for 2
Rating:5 out of 5 stars
It cooks the perfect amount that I can eat some now and some later without having so much leftover I eat it for the next 3 months. The high setting heated up the entire dish quite quickly and the low simmered it just right for hours. The lid fit tight and cleanup was simple.
Works As Claimed
Rating:5 out of 5 stars
Well, it’s a crock pot. It’s minimalistic and practical and I like that. I’m a single guy who sometimes cooks for his girlfriend and 3.5 quarts is a perfect size for that purpose and some left over. It seems to cook very evenly and does a excellent job at keeping in moisture.
THE PERFECT SIZE
Rating:5 out of 5 stars
I WAS LOOKING FOR A SMALLER SLOW COOKER THAN THE 7 QUART ONE I CURRENTLY HAVE AND THIS ONE IS THE PERFECT SIZE. IT COOKS VERY WELL AND I LIKE IT.
Excellent Product
Rating:5 out of 5 stars
In my search for a crock pot, I wanted something that was the right size for my lifestyle. I wanted something that I could cook dishes just for myself or make a dish that I could use for several meals, or make something for several dinner guests. It is basic in style with just one control knob, which means less technology to break, and it fits well in my smaller kitchen. It cooks evenly and there is no spillage because of the lip around the lid. Overall a fantastic product.
Lid leaks, again!
Rating:2 out of 5 stars
This is the second Rival crock pot I’ve gotten and both had the same problem – there is a 1/8 inch gap between the lid and the ceramic base. This lets out a lot of steam during the slow-cook period, so the food can dry out and it is less efficient of our energy. It seems it wouldn’t be much more effort for them to make a lid that really fit the base without that gap!
lid does not fit properly
Rating:1 out of 5 stars
I am just trying this crockpot for the first time. I had an older model which I loved. Which I am glad I did not throw out. This one is made in a much cheaper manner, particularly the lid. The lid does not line up properly so that there is a gap where air gets in and out. The whole purpose of a crockpot is that it slows cooks all day in an airtight container. I dont see how this one is going to work as well as my ancient one did. I am disappointed with the craftmanship. It should not be a hard thing to make the crockpot so the lid and the base match up. Rival should do a better job. Not worth what I paid for at all.
How did we live without this?!
Rating:5 out of 5 stars
We are a two-person household, one of whom (not me) is an EXTREMELY picky eater. I have MS, and after I was diagnosed with several food-related issues, I chose to prepare our meals, but they had to be simple and not require much physical energy: enter the Rival Slow Cooker.
First, the size is perfect for two to three for main course; four to eight for appetizers (such as Greek baked eggplant). We usually have enough leftover for my lunch the next day.
Second, cleaning both the ceramic insert and the heating element is very simple, just do not let anything dry/crust on and you will never need anything other than a soapy sponge for the insert and a damp paper towel for the heating element.
Third, the heat levels (low/high) and distribution seem accurate. All my recipes have taken the recommended times; I’ve made everything from pot roast, oatmeal, BBQ ribs to stews, chicken, soups, baked eggplant & tapioca.
There is no shortage of recipes for slow cookers, either online or in books. My Rival slow cooker has been used four times a week at a minimum since we received it in October. It does take a small extra effort on both our parts to make meals, but we have never spent more than 15-20 minutes prepping the food. My picky eater has loved EVERY meal done in our Rival slow cooker & I now control the ingredients & quality of our food.
I could not be more pleased with this product.
Excellent Slow Cooker Choice
Rating:4 out of 5 stars
We’re pleased with the Rival 3 1/2 Quart slow cooker. It has only two settings, low & high, but that suits us –simplicity –it works fine. We like the clean simple lines and the clear, see-through lid. The oval shape is nice, and of course you can take out the inside stoneware pot for cleaning. The price is not terrible. All in all, an brilliant choice for us!
rival slow cooker

Fantastic addition to the kitchen , I have a larger one as well. Cleans up easily. Miss the 4/6hr timer that the larger model has, but still fantastic product.
A excellent buy
Rating:5 out of 5 stars
After reading the reviews here and elsewhere, I chose on this Rival 3735WN 3-1/2 Quart Slow Cooker. I’ve used it several times now, and I am so pleased I bought this. It replaced a crockpot that had finally gone out. This model made me realize that the ancient one was not working properly for years.
I wish I had bought this a long time ago!
Incredible for the Price
Rating:5 out of 5 stars
Rival Mfg Co. 3735-WN Crock-Pot Slow Cooker For the price, this small Crock Pot is incredible. It is perfect for cooking a large sweet potato or white potato to be halved and shared with one other person. It is fantastic for taking a pot of baked beans or a green bean casserole to the office party. It is huge enough to keep some collard greens warm after they’ve ben cooked down. It is a nice size for chili con queso. It is ideal for serving at a buffet because it is pretty.
Although I like this Crock Pot and use it often, I have two problems with it. First, it heats well, a small too well. I never use it on the high setting. Sometimes it overcooks on the lowest setting. Therefore I usually reduce the cooking time or turn it off intermittently. Since I own only one of this model, I don’t know whether this is simply a peculiarity of my pot.
The joy of using a Crock Pot to cook is huge. Slow cookers use a tiny amount of fuel. In the summer they don’t heat up Southern kitchens. In the winter, they provide a place to cook soup that warms our tummies.
The other problem is that I spill stuff on the outside — the part that cannot be immersed and I have to work at keeping it clean and pretty.
Very Nice!

My Mom was very pleased with this cooker. She say that she will be using is often.
nice size, fantastic removable insert
Rating:4 out of 5 stars
The size of this slow cooker is just right for singles/couples. Smaller ones aren’t huge enough to accommodate most recipes (even when cut in half), and if you are cooking for one or two, you don’t need a huge family-sized cooker.
I really have not used this item yet, but with the cool weather upon us, I will be making beef stew and chili any day now. I like the removable insert. I used my ancient crock pot very small because it was such a pain to clean (it did NOT have a removeable insert). WIth this one, you just remove the insert and wash it up.
Just the right size- just what I was looking for!
Rating:5 out of 5 stars
This crock pot is perfect for one or two people. It cooked evenly, not overcooking and the roast I cooked was very tender after cooking on low for 10 hours. The oval shape also lends itself to cooking odd shaped meats. Afterwards, I just place the stoneware in my dishwasher, making clean up a snap.
Brilliant CrockPot
Rating:5 out of 5 stars
This CrockPot works better for my two-person household than any I’ve had before. Clean-up is simple too. Certainly recommend.
LIKE it!

This slow cooker does a fantastic job! I much prefer it to the fancy dancey one I borrowed from my daughter. Fantastic cooker at a fantastic price!
Works fantastic.

All though the seal had a defect, customer service was fantastic, and they replaced the product very quickly.

Brilliant and Simple
Rating:5 out of 5 stars
I used to make fun of these cooking machines. Now, I am a convert. Set it and forget it. How simple is that?
Recipe: some pork meat, sprinkle with dry onion soup mix, throw on a can of whole bean cranberry sauce. Set it on low for 8 hours. 8 hours later you have a tasty meal. There is plenty of juice, the meat is tender and fantastic tasting. Yes, I am a convert.
FIRE!!
Rating:2 out of 5 stars
I had one of these for 2 yrs and it was fantastic. After the first year, the handle broke off the top. I contacted Rival and they said I could buy a new lid. Which I did. They send it and it is not the right size. Fortunately I was able to take the handle off the new one and place it on the ancient lid. Onto my next complaint… the lid and handle get extremely hot.
Well a few weeks ago I pull my crockpot out, pour in my ingredients, and plug it in. I hear a loud pop and see flames and sparks glide out of the bottom of the crockpot. My husband grabbed a potholder and unplugged it from the wall. Fortunately our circuit breakers popped themselves off when this happened. I took the ceramic dish out of the crockpot and turned the base over to see what happened. The cord was really burned right off the base at the connection point!! Thankfully we were home when this happened.
I immedietly called Rival since I have never gotten the base wet and always took care of the crockpot. They offered me a replacement crockpot, and to pay for the repairs from the fire on the counter. I did turn down the replacement product. I do NOT want another rival product in my house. Especially after finding out that this has happened to two other people I know!!
I went out and bought a Hamilton Beach, and I never ever leave the crockpot on when we leave the house anymore.
BE CAREFUL with RIVAL!
Fantastic product. Excellent value. Right tool for 2 adults.

We have a larger crock pot and found it too large after our sons went away. This one works just fantastic and is the right size for our size menu. Product is well made with lightweight base and porcelain or similar material for serving dish. Serving dish would look nice on all but the most elegant of settings. Try it and see.
perfect small cooker!
